About

A portfolio for academic work, music, and the habits behind both

I use this site to make my academic development, technical practice, and selected creative work easier to inspect over time.

Personal and academic direction

I am a Mathematics and Physics student at UCL, building a profile around scientific computing, mathematical modelling, computational physics, and trumpet performance.

I am a first-generation university student from Shanghai, China. Studying abroad has not been a straight or comfortable path; recent family financial and housing pressure has made the route more uncertain and more urgent. I include this context carefully because it explains why I care about discipline, long-term research preparation, and making visible progress rather than treating the site as a polished surface only.

My long-term aim is to pursue doctoral research and build a life through mathematics, physics, computation, and sustained creative practice.

Educational background

UCL

BSc Mathematics and Physics

University College London

Current undergraduate route across mathematical methods, quantum physics, electromagnetism, statistical physics, scientific computing, and planned Year 3 advanced modules.

Sep 2024 - Jun 2027 expected
UCL

Undergraduate Preparatory Certificate for Science and Engineering

UCL Centre for Languages & International Education

Overall 83%, Pass with Distinction. Subject marks: Mathematics 92%, Physics 85%, Science and Society 79%, Academic English 77%. Under the official UPC conversion, 76%+ corresponds to UPC A* and A-level A*, so all four subject marks were A* equivalent.

Sep 2023 - Jun 2024
SFLS

High School Diploma

Shanghai Foreign Language School Affiliated to SISU, Minhang Foreign Language School (上海外国语大学闵行外国语中学)

Pre-university academic background in Shanghai, alongside twelve years of trumpet study, six years of section leadership, and an early computational drug-design project on HIV protease docking.

Sep 2020 - Jun 2023

  • Trumpet practice, ensemble music, and live performance
  • Team sport, conditioning, coordination, and competitive focus
  • Concerts, theatre, and exploring London through music and student life

Coursework and learning route

My module history, planned Year 3 direction, current self-study, and links between coursework and public outputs are collected on the Learning Route page. I keep the full course map there so this About page can stay focused on identity, interests, and skills.
